The thing about friendship is it is like any other relationship and so like any other relationship gets loose if it is not considered...Quite possible that a long distance friendship,like any other relationship might slowly start fossilating..Not as much as an end but just that it is let loose as if non existent...
A best friend is something very difficult to find in this world...People all over the world say someone or the other is their best friend without even realising their meaninThey write letters and fill slam books for people who they are just aquainted with or more...who they have just met.
Therefore when you find one..who you might consider ever as a best friend...say so.Tell the person how much you adore,respect and love him/her for what she is.Let the Friend know that he/she is special..spend time with her..maybe have a talk about trivialities and the important things just to be with her....
